I. Carbon offset projects
Greenfiniti offers carbon offsets in partnership with several global project developers. The key criteria Greenfiniti looks for in projects are:
• Real: The project must generate the expected carbon offsets and reductions.
• Verifiable: It must be screened and certified by an independent and internationally-accredited authority to ensure against double counting.
• Additional: And it must go beyond business as usual that is, the contribution of the project to reducing carbon emissions is not the result of existing mandates, policies
and regulations.
• Permanent: It must permanently reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

Greenfiniti Carbon-Free Certificate
Awarded to an event, publication, flight, commercial product that meets the requirements of the Greenfiniti Protocol for the reduction of carbon emissions. |
• Sustainable development: projects must demonstrate clear sustainable benefits
as defined, for instance, by the Gold Standard’s requirements for sustainable assessment.
Greenfiniti’s portfolio of carbon offsets is based on five type of projects: renewable energy, energy efficiency, fuel switch, reforrestration, and methan capture. Greenfiniti’s offsets are certified under the following standards: ISO 14064, VCS, Gold Standard, VER+, CDM and Plan Vivo.
Greenfiniti will soon start developing its own registry of GHG reduction projects. If you are an project developer with a strong track record of working on any of the five types of carbon offset projects listed above, please contact us. Please make sure your project proposal meets the five elegibility criteria presented above.
II. Renewable Energy Certificates
In addition to its portfolio of carbon offsets, Greenfiniti also offers Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) certified under EcoLogo and Green-e. The difference between RECs and carbon offsets relates to the following:
• RECs are the means of transferring the legal and beneficial ownership of the environmental attributes of energy to your home or business. A REC represents the environmental benefits of each megawatt-hour of energy generated from renewable energy sources and can be sold separate from the electricity itself.
• Unlike carbon offsets, REC projects do not necessarily reduce the amount of greenhouse gases emitted into the atmosphere, because they are not required to replace other, polluting energy sources.
• RECs are purchased to help improve the environmental performance of the overall |
Greenfiniti Talent Award
Acknowledges every year the most innovative and sustainable technological projects for reducing carbon emissions and harnessing renewable sources of energy |
supply of electricity in your region. Your acquisition also contributes to job creation
and economic development in your community.
• Your REC purchase gives you the power to be green - to decide that a specific amount of electricity will come from renewable energy sources.
